Surgical Information Systems

Recognized as a best-in-class, fully-integrated software solution provider, Surgical Information Systems (SIS) focuses exclusively on the unique needs of surgery and anesthesia departments, which together define the perioperative environment within a hospital. Founded in 1996, SIS addresses the surgical information needs of hospitals and helps to improve patient safety, optimize revenue, reduce costs, and ensure compliance. Clients include leading academic and medical research centers, integrated delivery networks, and hospitals of all sizes.

NEP first partnered with SIS in 2010, seeing an opportunity to invest in an industry leader and software solutions innovator. Over the course of its investment period, NEP partnered with the SIS team to successfully grow the company on many fronts, including revenue by 121 percent, EBITDA by 116 percent, and the number of employees by 246 percent. Recognizing the rapid move of surgeries to outpatient settings, two add-on acquisitions broadened SIS’s ASC product offerings: AmkaiSolutions in 2014 and SourceMedical Solutions in 2017. SIS also successfully launched SIS Complete™ in 2019, an end-to-end comprehensive SaaS software platform that addresses the administrative, financial and clinical needs of ASCs.

NEP completed a recapitalization with Accel-KKR in October 2020 and maintained a minority ownership in the company post-close.
